Pros and Cons of Fall TV Returns
The leaves will soon be falling and sweaters are being dragged from the back of the closet once again. While the weather may be starting to cool down, the fall TV season is just starting to heat up. Admit it, you can’t escape the publicity that seems to be pervading every website you visit. And yes it’s an exciting time, but it does have a few downfalls as well.
Pro: Conversation Starter
What more do you need than a new TV show to get the conversation ball rolling? Whether it’s around the water cooler or maybe even with that cute guy at a party, a TV show doubles as a great conversation starter.
Pro: Mystery Solved
Did your show end with a cliff hanger? Well the wait is over, finally! Did the main character really end up dying or was that just a ploy? Did he get the girl? Was there a secret pregnancy? Or a government cover up ripped to shreds? The answers to these questions are awaiting on your favorite TV drama and your mind will be blown.
Con: Time Sucker
So you might need to catch up on one episode or two or like the whole season before being able to start the new season. And who really has time for that? As a college student, I know I don’t. Please, I can barely remember to eat food or run errands at times, let alone find the hours to catch up on TV shows. Try balancing time to cook dinner and do homework too. It’s all in the balance.
Con: The Real World is Out There
While escaping into a fiction based world may sound appealing, be sure not to lose out on real life experiences. During those hours you could be watching TV, there might be tons of other stuff happening. I didn’t have a TV last year during school and am so glad I didn’t because I would have missed all the crazy things that happened on our floor. There’s always activities to do and people to chat with. You learn a lot more and sometimes get even more laughs from real interaction than TV comedy.
